The Meeting

Giordano Purin, founder of the family that still forms the heart of Crucolo, is also the brilliant inventor of Parampampoli. A liqueur born on a cheerful evening in the 1960s, by chance, but also by happy intuition. Giordano was standing by the fireplace, mixing two classic traditional drinks in two “Raminei” (copper pots): coffee and wine on one side and coffee and grappa on the other; two common “energizing” concoctions passed down through families.

It seemed like any other evening, but it was about to make history! From the fireplace in the corner of the kitchen, Giordano began serving a particularly jovial table. By the end of dinner, between one joke and another, someone apparently asked to mix the two recipes to try a new drink.

Time and the memories of those who were there are not entirely in disagreement as to whether a tongue of flame choreographedly ignited the mixture in the pot with a large purple flame.

Whether the spark was accidentally struck by the ladle or simply splashed from the hearth is lost in legend.

Upon hearing the noise, one of the attendees shouted, “Parampam! Parampam!” imitating the explosion heard in the room. From the unknown customer’s exclamation, the name Parampampoli was born! That magical evening, encouraged by the group of young people, Giordano served the “explosive” concoction to those present, who found it particularly delicious and repeatedly asked him to light the pot.

The Parampampoli cup is much more than a container:

With its unmistakable shape, it encapsulates the authentic essence of a tradition that is renewed every time it passes from hand to hand.

It is there that the Parampampoli comes to life: between a spark and a toast, it becomes a memory, a bond.

A flagship product of the Crucolo Refuge, Parampampoli is prepared “alla fiamma” (flamed) according to a recipe dating back more than sixty years. It is enjoyed every year by thousands of tourists and enthusiasts, who have elevated it to the status of an iconic Trentino product.

Parampampoli is produced following the original blend passed down from innkeeper Giordano to his grandchildren. For more than half a century, its purple flame has enchanted and warmed patrons of the refuge, located 1,100 meters above sea level at the foot of the Lagorai mountain range in the Dolomites. Each bottle makes convivial occasions special, igniting the emotions of those present.
